PCL Construction has received two top awards from the Canada BIM Council (CanBIM) for Rocky Ridge Recreation Facility in Calgary.

Developers Weigh in On Market Drivers

Canadian respondents to a global survey of real estate developers with at least USD $250 million (CAD $322 million) worth of projects in progress are generally in sync with their international peers in gauging positive and negative market influences. 

The B.C. provincial government has announced funding of $19.95 million for UBC to upgrade and expand the aging Biolgoical Sciences Complex used by life sciences students. 

Top contractors responsible for B.C.’s transportation and infrastructure projects were recognized with Deputy Minister’s Contractor of the Year Awards.

Canada’s construction industry must remain focused on recruitment and retention as more than one quarter of a million construction workers are expected to retire this decade.

Factories in flat-packs and homes built in factories—modular construction will build new momentum in 2018. However, the industry is battling with significant skills shortages and must manage increasing globalization.

Jon Love, founder and chief executive officer of KingSett Capital, has been appointed to the Order of Canada.
